Roderick’s work has earned multiple awards, including Excellence in Urbanism and Best Undergraduate Design Project, and has been exhibited at the AIA Center for Emerging Professionals in Washington, D.C. He was also a finalist for the 2018 SketchUp Ascent Competition in Palm Springs, CA. His professional collaborations and projects have been featured in Star Tribune, Dwell Magazine, Midwest Design Magazine, and Residential Design Magazine.
What sets Roderick apart is his passion for intricate details combined with his GC expertise, not only does he design refined, timeless spaces, but he also knows exactly how to technically execute every element, ensuring a flawless, luxury outcome with precision and efficiency. This integrated approach delivers less rework, fewer surprises, and a seamless, elevated experience for clients at every stage.
Outside the studio, he draws inspiration from travel with his wife and sons and enjoys time outdoors. You’ll often find him running or cycling along Elm Creek Reserve, embracing the balance between design, nature, and craft that informs his work.
Prior to his architectural career, Roderick Varh served in the United States Army, including a year-long deployment to Afghanistan, an experience that instilled in him a profound sense of discipline, resilience, and appreciation for the meaning of home.
With expertise in 3D modeling, architectural visualization, and building information modeling (BIM), Roderick plays a central role in shaping Simple Finesse’s design communication and construction documentation. Now a licensed General Contractor, he brings a rare and powerful combination of design and construction expertise. This sets Simple Finesse apart: clients benefit from seamless translation of design to build, precise execution of every detail, fewer change orders, and a final space that is both exquisitely beautiful and meticulously constructed.
Before co-founding Simple Finesse, Roderick honed his skills at firms including Chris Pardo Design (Seattle/Palm Springs), SALA Architects, and PLAAD Architects (Minneapolis). He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of North Carolina and studied abroad in Spain and Portugal, experiences that continue to inform his thoughtful, context-driven design approach.

Her passion for residential design began in childhood, spending weekends with her father touring homes and imagining the day she would create her own. This early fascination evolved into a lifelong dedication to crafting interiors that are both refined and inviting.
Sia’s design philosophy centers on the belief that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Her work balances warmth, modernity, and timeless elegance, an approach recognized with multiple honors at the 2024 Midwest Design Awards, including first place for basement design, second place for children’s rooms, and third place for contemporary interiors.
